The EMBnet J (ISSN:2226-6089) is the official Journal of the EMBnet – The Global Bioinformatics Network. The journal was established in 1994 and since then provides rapid publication of articles in all scientific areas revolving around the realms of bioinformatics and computational biology.

The EMBnet.journal is open access and peer-reviewed and supports the Open Access Initiative (OAI) in academic publishing, bringing the latest developments in bioinformatics research, education and training, together wit, news, views, reportage and commentaries to the scientific community.
