Current status of nanopore sequencing using the MinION device – from full length cDNA sequencing to genome assembly improvements

Ola Wallerman

Abstract

Nanopore sequencing is a new NGS method that allows very long sequence reads to be determined based on changes in ion currents as a DNA strand passes through a protein pore. This can give reads of unprecedented lengths, and I will here describe the nature of these reads and the future perspectives of nanopore sequencing.
